PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Sports and games play an important role in keeping a person fit and healthy. Playing and participating in outdoor sports events boosts up the body's immunity. Generally games are essential for healthy development in early childhood and beyond. Playing sports and games alone helps the wards to develop both what they know and what they don't. Sports and games help and enable them to experiment through trial and error, solve problems, devise the best strategies and gain new confidence and skills.

Management, negotiation, communication, persuasion, conflict resolution and building up of confidence are all developed for one who plays and practice regularly. Also Sports help to develop team spirit, leadership skills, fair play, a never-say-die attitude, and focus in psychology and in life.

Participating in sports has been shown to improve cognitive and memory functions in children, allowing them to perform better in tests and academics. Furthermore, traits such as discipline and perseverance are important in improving academic performance. Our college provides various outdoor and indoor games for the students.

The following are the infrastructure we provide for the students and the play ground in fully equipped with play marked court for each and every sports events.

ACHIEVEMENTS - 2022 - 2023

Our College students participated in various Sports and Games during this Academic Year 2022 - 2023. The following are the achievements made by the stars of VCSM:

• 1. District Level Kabadi Event for Women was organized by the Kabadi Academy, Karur District in Sri Amaravathi Arts and Science College, Karur on 26th July, 2022. Ms.N. Hindhu Priya - III Year B.A Public Administration has been selected for Karur District Kabadi Team.
• 2. State Level Chess Competition was conducted in Morning Start Hr. Sec. School, Karur on 21st August, 2022. 10 students from our college participated in the event. Ms. S. Sangavi, II M.Sc Maths won First Place and Ms. T. Bhavadharani, I B.Sc C.S won Third Place in State Level Chess Competition.
• 3. Ms. S. Subiksha, II B.B.A participated in "National Level Silambam Championship - 2022" a Silambam Competition organized by International Union of Silambam Federations India at Kerela on 30th December 2022. She won First Prize under Senior Category in the following events.
  • 1. Irattai Kambu Veechu
  • 2. Nedu Kambu Veechu
• 4. District Level Athletic Meet was conducted in Government Higher Secondary School, Goundampalayam, Puliyur, Karur District on 21st October 2022. 15 students from our college participated and Mr.S.Arulmurugan, III B.Com.C.A won Second Place in "100 Mts. Running"
• 5. Kabadi open match was conducted in Virudhunagar on 21st October 2022. 12 students from our college participated in the Kabadi match. An Inter-collegiate sports tournament was organized by Jamal Mohammed College, Trichy on 27th November, 2022. Our Students participated in Kabadi and Volley Ball match and received participation certificates.
• 6. Bharathidasan University, Trichy organized university level Inter-Collegiate Kho-Kho match in Government Arts College (Autonomous), Karur. Our college students won 4th place.
• 7. Bharathidasan University, Trichy organized university level Inter-Collegiate Volley Ball match for Girls on 17th December 2022 in Anna Stadium, Trichy. 12 Girls were participated and received participation certificates.
• 8. Bharathidasan University, Trichy organized university level Inter-Collegiate Ball-badminton match for girls in Sengamala Thayaar Educational Trust Women's College, Mannargudi on 13th January, 2023. 6 students from our college participated and won 4th place.
• 9. Bharathidasan University, Trichy organized university level Inter-Collegiate Ball-badminton match for boys in Jesu Arts and Science College, Alangudi, Pudukottai on 4th January, 2023. 6 students from our college participated and received participation certificates.
• 10. District Level Volley Ball for Girls was conducted in Thiruvalluvar Ground, Karur on 28th January, 2023. 12 students from our college participated and won District level 2nd Prize.
• 11. District Level Volley Ball for Boys was conducted in Thiruvalluvar Ground, Karur on 29th January, 2023. 12 students from our college participated and won District level 2nd Prize.
• 12. District Level Kho-Kho match for Boys was conducted in Thiruvalluvar Ground, Karur on 29th January, 2023. 12 students from our college participated and won District level 3rd Prize.
• 13. Kabadi Sports Academy, Karur District organized C.M Trophy Kabadi Tournament for boys on 10th February, 2023 in Thanthonimalai Stadium, Karur. 12 students participated in the tournament and received certificates.
• 14. C.M Trophy Volley Ball Tournament for boys and girls was conducted on 14th February, 2023 in M. Kumarasamy Engineering College, Thalavapalayam, Karur. Our girls team won 3rd prize and boys received participation certificates.
• 15. C.M. Trophy Ball Badminton Tournament for both Girls and Boys was conducted in R.K. Shuttles Indoor Stadium, Thinnappa Nagar, Karur on 14th February, 2023. 10 students from college participated in the event and received certificates.
• 16. Karur District Chess Academy conducted district level Chess Competition on 12th February, 2023 in our Valluvar College of Science and Management. Our students Ms. T. Bhavatharani, I B.Sc. C.S won 1st Prize and M.M. Subiksha, II B.A Tamil won 14th Prize in "Under 19" category.
• 17. C.M. Trophy Beach Volley Ball a Divisional Level Match was conducted in Mannora Beach, Pattukottai for both Girls and Boys on 4th March and 5th March, 2023. Our Girls team won 2nd Place in Beach Volley Ball match.
• 18. JCI, Karur organized District Level Marathon on 5th March, 2023 in Thiruvalluar Ground, Karur. 20 students from our college participated and received medals and certificates.
